The Guardianpublished an article about the increasing number of women who have turned to witchcraft to remove President Trump from office.
Actually the month after the inauguration of our 45th President, February 2017, witches have been casting spells against Trump each month during the waning moon in order to have him cast out of the Oval Office. Using social media they have tried to use the dark powers to further their political agenda.
But with the looming reelection campaign of Trump, the effort has taken on added urgency. Democrat women, especially women of note or influence, have tried to use witchcraft to ensure that the President does not get a second term.
Will this succeed? Given the track record of the Resistance, it seems like a long shot at best, a Hail Mary attempt to use another cliche. Since November 8, 2016, a truncated list of attempts to oust Trump from office shows how futile those tries have been.
Why has this become “fashionable” among women of the Left? Author Sady Doyle posits that the breaking point was the loss of Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump in the 2016 election. Because Hillary was depicted by some as a “witch”, it made sense to turn to the dark powers to right the wrong done in that election.
So we can imagine women heading to the woods and meeting with their coven in an attempt to cast a spell on the President, somehow forcing him from the Oval Office. In Doyle’s mind, these modern day witches turned from “patriarchy’s gods” to the “old, dark powers” to effect their desired end.
After the election, those who were turned off by the results tried many different strategies to remove the President. These varied and sometimes idiotic schemes have come to be known as Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). From trying to manipulate the Electoral College, to the Mueller investigation, to the incessant resistance to anything the President attempts, it seems that every avenue has been attempted. From Russian collusion, the Left now has turned to shout “racism” and “white supremacy” at Trump, and The New York Timesis heading a drive to reframe the nation’s history around the year slaves arrived in America, calling this the “1619 project”. TDS seems to be a malady which has no cure, and any idea is never too much to try.
So witchcraft has its own appeal to many afflicted with this TDS. For some, it is a feel good effort, even if failed. Others probably believe that maybe, just maybe, it will awaken the powers of the nether world to cause an event which will drive Trump from office.
What will be tried next? One which I am sure has been used in some quarters is voodoo. Small figures of the President will have been punctured with voodoo pins and the “gods” of this Caribbean religion have been called upon for help. Perhaps those who believe in zombies will resurrect more from the grave to vote in the 2020 election to win for the Democrats.
Democrats lost in 2016 for some very simple reasons. First, and foremost, was the character and ability of its candidate. Hillary Clinton made some unforced errors during her campaign. Her misuse of classified information on her email server, her refusal to campaign in battleground states that should have been “safe” for her doomed her to defeat. Also absent were any new ideas about how to lift the economy, nor any way to heal the deep divisions between right and left.
Democrats can run to the dark powers, and use every crackpot idea in their drive to defeat Trump next year. But the present crop of candidates are driving the party so far to the Left and toward socialism that perhaps some of the more demented of their supporters realize that only reliance on the supernatural will regain them the White House.
With the news about witchcraft being tried, perhaps the next news story coming from the TDS sufferers will be an appeal to Satan. Some on the right probably believe ideas have come from practitioners of that religion. But right now, the only way to defeat Trump will be better people running for the Presidency, better ideas which are workable, and the President doing something stupid which adversely affects his reelection.
Right now, nothing like that is on the horizon. Cast your spells all you want, for this just shows how empty your political bag of tricks really is.
