I am not a Democrat because I believe in God.  According to a recent Gallup poll, 90% of Republicans believe in God, but only 72% of Democrats do. Furthermore, I believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word and I try to live my life by its precepts.  Although I know that many Christians find no difficulty voting for politicians who profess things which are contrary to their beliefs as Christians, I personally cannot and will not do that.  To support a political Party which is so contrary to the teachings of the Bible and so anti-God is to become anti-God oneself.  Jesus himself says in Matthew 12:30, “He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters abroad.”  I choose to be with God!

I am not a Democrat because I do not believe in destroying our economy by insisting upon using green energy which is insufficient and will always be insufficient for the electrical needs of 330 million Americans, in order to save the earth from a destruction that is predicted by computer models that have yet to have been accurate in any prediction.  

I am not a Democrat because I will not follow leaders who constantly lie to the American people in order to retain power.  Here are just a few of the many examples of Democrat leadership’s lies. Nancy Pelosi said that President Trump’s Tax Reduction and Jobs Act was “Armageddon,” and would not help anyone, knowing that was not true.  90% of taxpayers saw more money in their pockets and businesses expanded due to their tax cuts, bringing manufacturing jobs back to the U.S.,  but because it was passed by Republicans, she could not tell the truth about it.  Adam Schiff repeatedly lied throughout President Trump’s administration telling various news media that he “had seen actual proof” of collusion between President Trump and Russia to steal the 2016 election.  But he had seen nothing, because the Special Counsel investigation eventually concluded that there WAS no evidence of collusion. President* Biden lies constantly, saying he grew up in a Puerto Rican area in Delaware (he didn’t), saying he grew up  going frequently to a black church (he didn’t), saying he had attended shul than most Jews (probably never), that he had been arrested in South Africa when trying to see Nelson Mandela  (he wasn’t), said that he had been arrested during Civil Rights demonstrations in the South (which he never participated in) and on and on and on. 

I am not a Democrat because I do not believe in violence, and Republican leaders, despite what the January 6 Committee has tried to portray by careful editing of President Trump’s speech on that day, NEVER urge their followers to commit violence nor do they condone it.  Democrats, on the other hand, supported BLM and Antifa despite the 19 people murdered in the first two weeks of rioting after George Floyd’s death, the destruction of property, the lootings of stores, the burning of business after business, the taking over of police precincts and entire portions of cities, all across America in the summer of 2022.  When some of them were arrested, members of Congress including our now vice president* bailed them out of jail. 

I’m not a Democrat because I don’t believe in threatening or physically assaulting someone who has different political views from you, but many Democrats seem to.  A Bernie Sanders supporter, spurred on by Democrat rhetoric, attempted to assassinate the entire Republican House members as they practiced for a baseball game, critically wounding Steve Scalise and his security detail before they killed the shooter.  Rep. Maxine Watters told a crowd, “If you see anybody from that Cabinet (President Trump’s) in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” (This was followed by a number of cabinet members and Republican lawmakers and even average citizens with Republican logos on their clothing being accosted in restaurants as they were quietly eating). Sen. Chuck Schumer said “I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.” And Democrats have said little to nothing about the threats to the Supreme Court Justices about the Roe v. Wade decision, even when an assassin was arrested in front of Justice Kavanaugh’s home.  In fact, although federal law prohibits protesting outside the home of any judge, the White House said it encouraged the protests and the Department of Justice has done nothing to arrest the protestors. 

Only after a month of vandalism and fire bombings of pro-life pregnancy clinics has the FBI finally decided to step in and investigate, and only CNN has mentioned that the attacks have been carried out by Jane’s Revenge, an Antifa-affiliated group.  One news organization reported one such occurrence as an “alleged” fire-bombing!  

I am not a Democrat because I believe in law and order.  And I believe that laws apply to everyone, regardless of skin color, sexual orientation, or Party affiliation.  Sadly, Democrats seem to feel that laws apply only to Republicans.  While very few involved in the murders, the looting, and the arson in major cities across America in the summer of 2020 have faced any jail time, hundreds of protestors who entered the Capitol building on January 6, 2021, many invited in by the police, have been arrested. They were not armed for what the Democrats laughingly call an “insurrection,” so virtually all of the charges are misdemeanors for parading and trespassing.  Yet many have already been jailed and fined while countless other rot in jail over a year and a half later without even having had their day in court.  

I am not a Democrat because I don’t believe the FBI should be used to punish those who do not agree with Democrat’s ideas.  While President Obama took thousands of pages of documents, many of them classified, with him when he left the Oval Office, storing them in an empty warehouse in Chicago, he has been negotiating with the National Archives for the “loan” of those papers and has paid for their upkeep. President Trump’s Attorney General did not send the FBI to raid his home in order to find the papers and confiscate them anymore than any president in the past has done that to a predecessor.  Ever.  Until now.   On the contrary, President Trump, who took far fewer papers with him, and had them secured and guarded by the Secret Service at his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, had his home raided and the documents seized.  His bedroom was even searched including the former first lady’s closet.   In addition, while the FBI is now “investigating” the bombing of those 50 to 70 crisis pregnancy centers, no one has been apprehended despite existing videos and messages left by the group doing the bombings.  Perhaps it is because the FBI is too busy raiding the homes of pro-life activists for having had the gall to stand outside abortion clinics, praying, singing, and talking with the women as they arrived.  A year ago.  All cases which were adjudicated by local authorities and dismissed.   But Roe v. Wade is no longer the law of the land.  The people of each state can make their own decision as to what they are willing to allow in their state, and the Democrats in power hate that. So, pro-lifers have to be punished.  Somehow.

I am not a Democrat because I believe in the First Amendment which protects both my freedom to practice my religion and my freedom of speech.  Many Democrats today believe that only speech that agrees with them is protected.  Everything else should be silenced.  Interestingly enough, Gavin Newsom has joined President Trump’s Truth Social and spewed a slew of lies about how Red States had the highest COVID deaths (they didn’t) and have the highest crime rates (they don’t except in the large, Democrat-run cities).  But he is not silenced.  He is welcomed on Truth Social, although I am sure he is laughed at and I doubt many people even bother answering his ridiculous statements.  Republicans believe all speech is protected and that is why I am a Republican!

I am not a Democrat because they cheat.  As long ago as the Nixon/Kennedy election, it became well known that Kennedy won because his father was able to buy votes in Chicago.  Lyndon Johnson was known as “Lucky Lyndon” because of the votes that suddenly appeared for him out of thin air in his 1948 run for the Senate, much like the votes that appeared for Biden during the night when Americans went to bed with Trump in the lead and woke up to Biden as president in 2016!  Republicans, who generally and naively expect people to act honestly, were not prepared for the shenanigans that went on – – – the boxes of votes that were “found” under tables, the ballots that were run through the voting machines two and three times during the night, the locked doors and the papered windows that kept Republican poll watchers out of watching the counting of ballots.  Democrats will point to the fact that all the elections were certified and that therefore the election wasn’t stolen, but that is simply because the Republicans couldn’t get the proof together quickly enough nor find a judge willing to intercede in an election.  Proving election fraud and overturning an election, even when the proof is undeniable, is almost impossible.

I am not a Democrat because I will not lie. I refuse to pretend that men can become women and women men when I know it is biologically impossible. I refuse to pretend that men can become pregnant when I know that is biologically impossible as well. Democrats, especially those in positions of power, pretend to believe these fantasies in order to grow yet another protected group whose votes they can count on by “protecting the group’s rights.”  The truth is that the tiny fraction of 1% of children who are uncomfortable with their sex grow out of that discomfort by puberty or can be counseled to feel comfortable in their bodies as they grow up.  Today’s fad of child mutilation is nothing but barbaric and being a true Democrat demands agreeing with and supporting not only that but sex education in kindergarten, graphic sex novels in school libraries, and Drag Queen story hours in schools, libraries, and even churches.  We murder babies and mutilate children.  Pedophilia and human trafficking will be the next things to become “trendy.”  This is no longer civilized.  This is barbaric!

I am not a Democrat because I truly believe that all men and women are created equal.  We do not have the same talents, the same drive, the same willingness to work, but we are all Americans and equally good schools should be available to all of our children.  This is why I support school choice.  Although I was a public school teacher for 44 years, if my grandchildren were still in school, I would be at school board meetings, being sure they are not being taught Critical Race Theory or the New Sex Education Standards.  CRT paints blacks as victims and whites as oppressors, and while that was certainly the case in the South of pre-Civil War days, it is certainly not the case now.  Instead, it pits our children against each other when instead they would be innocently playing together as the friends they should be.  The New Sex Education Standards are far more graphic in the early grades than most parents would like and do, of course, include discussions about transgenders. 

I am not a Democrat because I believe in equality and not in equity. Equality is equal opportunity to succeed.  Equity is equal outcome.  You cannot have equal outcome because we all come from different homes with different parents, but even more, because we all have different abilities and levels of intelligence. In my English class, if I graded on equality, I would tell give the class a worksheet to study for the test, I might offer a review session that anyone who wanted to could attend, I would give them all the same test.  Then I would grade it and assign grades based upon how much information they knew. Let’s say I had two basketball players, one white and one black.  If I graded on equity, I would say, this student is black and his ancestors might have been slaves or they might have come from Africa, so even though he has been in class to hear all of the discussions, has gotten the same worksheet to study for the test, had the same opportunity to come for the review session, I am going to give him a bump of 20 % on his grade just to even out his score.  Let’s say the white boy got an 80% (B-) on the test, but the black boy got a 60% (D-).  That 20% bump would also give him an 80% (B-) on the test, a B- he hadn’t earned, a B- that indicated that he had a pretty good knowledge of the information when he fact he knew very little at all.  How is that really fair to either of the boys?  Especially if the black boy had spent the evening out with friends, knowing I was going to give him a bump on the test, while the white boy sat at home after practice, studying.  Equity is racist. Equity means that the next time you get in an airplane, you don’t know if the pilot was hired for his or her flying ability or because of the color of his or her skin! There are blacks and Asians and whites who are vastly more intelligent than I am, even though I hold two Masters Degrees. There are people of all skin colors who can fix my lights, paint my house, repair my plumbing, and make my car run smoothly – – – none of which I can do myself. In some things, I am better than others. In many things, others are better than me. None of us should feel superior to one another because even the most highly paid neurosurgeon needs a mechanic!

And finally, I am not a Democrat because I love America.  Oh, yes, I know that as a nation we have had problems.  I know that we had slaves.  But I also know that we freed those slaves less than one hundred years after the founding of our great nation!  As we spread westward, we pushed the native Americans ahead of us, killing them and being killed by them, force marching many on the Trail of Tears.  Many things have been done wrong.  But equally many things were also done right!  The Constitution and the Bill of Rights laid the foundation for equality and freedom for everyone regardless of skin color which the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960s codified.  We are a brave people, a compassionate people who twice entered wars not of our making and saved Europe from totalitarian governments.  And through charities, churches, companies and foundations we give about $44 billion a year to help the less fortunate around the world. We have truly stood as a beacon to other peoples, a beacon of freedom, of hope, of leadership — until recently.  I am not a Democrat because I want to see that proud and free America back again. And I am not a Democrat because I choose to not to be a citizen of the world.  I am a citizen of the United States of America.  I am a Republican.
