When I awoke this morning, I supposed that my residence was still in the good ol’ US of A. This place where we are guaranteed ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, rights granted not by government but by God Himself. The sun is shining, it is March with the assurance that Spring is here or just around the corner.
A dose of reality then hit me. I knew that our President * (such designation thanks to Kurt Schlicter), was finally going to address the American people last night on the anniversary of the arrival of the great world-wide pandemic, which is now a year old.
Of course I knew that the words that Joe Biden, the * in the previous sentence, would not be speaking his own words, even though history will record them as such. Words coming from his mouth were written by a well-paid speech writer, who, in turn was instructed by those in the shadows who really control POTUS. Expectations were that platitudes would be plentiful, along with self-congratulations on *’s accomplishments, and we (the American people) were not disappointed.
But images of a frail, nearly 80-year man seemed to morph into historical figures. Words coming from “our” President seemed to mimic the kind of rhetoric of the past. Think Josef Stalin or Adolf Hitler. Imagine Chinese President Xi Jinping or Vladimir Putin of Russia or Pol Pot (Cambodia) behind the lectern. Perhaps Louis IV of France or some other ‘enlightened’ monarch of ancient times — the words could have been uttered by those as they contemplated the ‘off with their heads’ in the next televised addressed to their subjects.
Where is my republic? Where is a leader who will inspire, lift up and lead his people out of the wilderness? This * was a desiccated old man who seems to aspire to absolutism in America’s 21st century.
More astounding is the silence from the mainstream media about the obvious attempt to dictate to people and to be someone who threatens the populous to an unending future of government intrusion into their daily lives.
Perhaps the 81 million who (supposedly) voted for this clearly cognitively challenged professional politician will have some voter’s remorse after listening to this unhinged rant about the pandemic.
First, President * claimed to ‘tell the truth’ to his fellow citizens. Yet he did not bother to mention that even the CDC has stated the end of the pandemic is near. He took credit for the vaccine rollout, refusing again to credit Donald Trump for his Operation Warp Speed.
Schools can now reopen safely, people who are vaccinated are protected, normal life can be resumed, yet we heard none of this from Biden. He claimed that ‘maybe’ by July 4 we can safely celebrate our independence, but only in family or very small gatherings. These have been going on for some time now.
Our present occupant of the Oval Office threatened that, if we did not continue to follow the draconian rules of masking and social distancing, that the restrictions on our activities will be reintroduced, including lockdowns. We, according to him, are facing a bleak future if we do not allow government to dictate our lives. Thankfully, the red states are reopening, and ridding themselves of the mask mandates and choosing to follow the science.
Biden used these phrases to indicate his willingness to impose rules on us: “official guidance”, “what you can or cannot do”, in the “work place, places of worship, with your friends or when you travel” — a promise that Big Brother will be watching to see if we are following his administration’s rules.
We need to take back our way of life, and realize that control of what we do should and must rest with each of us. We can assess the risks we take, and can make better decisions about our lives and activities than any bureaucrat in Washington or the various state capitols across our land.
Where is our republic? It should and must be in our hands, and we must let President * know any attempt to control the American people will be resisted. We have a system where the rulers act with the ‘consent of the governed’, and we did not consent to what we saw last night.
