That phrase was used by Ronald Reagan in his campaign for the Presidency in 1980.  On 28 October of that year, the second debate between Reagan and the then incumbent, Jimmy Carter, came after Carter once again accused Reagan of wanting to gut Social Security and diminish Medicare for seniors.  What Reagan was emphasizing was that Carter misconstrued Reagan’s stand on the issues, and this phrase defused Carter’s argument as Reagan again stated his campaign’s idea about those two programs.

One wonders if Reagan, looking down on today’s political scene, would utter those same words about Joe Biden, the *President.  It seems that again and again Biden says something that again befuddles his opponents and his supporters alike, as well as making our foreign allies wonder about his policies.

Biden’s last gaffe occurred when he was addressing a group of Democratic donors on Thursday. He claimed that we were facing an ‘Armageddon’ with Russia, and closer to nuclear war than any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962.

This statement caused consternation both at home and abroad, even prompting the French President, Emmanuel Macron, to warn that we need to be more moderate in our public pronouncements.  But this was but one of Biden’s* misstatements that cause eyes to roll and Reagan to posthumously say, ‘There you go again!’

Consider the many times Biden* has made statements that have weakened our position in the world.  His botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, which he claimed to be the most effective of any time, was panned by friend and foe alike.  His administration’s response to the threat of Russia attacking Ukraine did not deter the Russian bear, but emboldened their President Vladimir Putin to go ahead with his February attack on that country.

Another stroke of anti-genius has been his several comments about the U. S. going to defend Taiwan against Chinese aggression.  This comes after weak responses to the Chinese moves in the South China Sea, taking places historically claimed by other nations.  In addition, Biden* has seen the North Koreans rattle their swords (missile capabilities) where his predecessor had pretty much defanged the leader of the Hermit Kingdom.  On the other side of Asia, the disastrous Iran nuclear deal is revived, as that rogue nation is working to become another member of the nuclear club.

In the wake of the extreme inflation on gasoline prices, natural gas prices and other oil prices, Biden has drawn down on drilling, fracking and leasing oil fields.  When the price of gas was over $5 per gallon nationally, and over $7 in California, instead of unleashing our domestic oil industry he has plundered the Strategic Reserve, and has gone begging Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Republic to pump more oil out to lower our prices.  They refused, and even decreased the amount per day by 2 million barrels, which will lead to even more inflation at the gas pump.

Just this last week, the Biden* administration has moved to lessen the sanctions on Venezuela so they can produce more oil for the world markets, again in an effort to decrease our gas prices.  This will enable one of the worst socialist regimes to strengthen its hold on its own people, and will do little to ease our problems here in the U. S.

Biden (or his handlers) have doubled down on support for abortion, on the trans issue and on green energy.  In spite of the obvious problems with electric vehicles, it seems that the party Biden leads wants consumers to buy EVs, even at the exorbitant costs and difficulties in making sure these can be recharged efficiently.

Biden and the Democrats have accused Republicans of being ‘enemies of democracy’, seemingly only because they disagree on policies and programs.

Each time we see and hear about the pronouncements from our ‘betters’ in Washington, we want to simply echo Reagan’s, ‘there you go again’.  Will it ever get back to normal?
