Wednesday began the latest  attempt by   the  Democrats to overthrow  a lawfully  elected  President of the  United States. Democrats have been longing to launch an impeachment since Inauguration day  when  at least one mainstream  newspaper wondered in  a headlined  article  when  the  impeachment would begin.   Rep. Maxine Waters has called for impeachment repeatedly  in  the  last three years,  and Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan shouted “We’re going to impeach that m***erf***er!”  shortly   after her election. The push for impeachment began in the shock  of a Democratic loss in the 2016 election.  Hillary Clinton, former First Lady, former Senator from New York, and former Secretary of State under President Barack Obama seemed highly qualified for the position, a sure bet against the swagger of the billionaire Hotel owner and television host, Donald Trump.  But she lost.  The American people chose him over her and the Democrats have never gotten over it.

For over two years, they used the Democratically contrived Special Counsel investigation into collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to convince their followers that Trump  could soon be  evicted from  office.  Rep.  Adam Schiff, for one, repeatedly told reporters that he had seen the proof   that Trump had colluded with the Russians.  The hand-picked investigators on Robert Mueller’s team were all Democrats, most of whom  had donated to Clinton and other Democratic candidates.  One of them was Hillary Clinton’s former lawyer.  Yet, this highly  partisan group could find no believable proof of collusion and the hopes of the Democrats fell.  As a large field of far left Democratic hopefuls began to vie for the Democratic presidential nomination, Rep.  Al Green said on television that if Democrats don’t impeach President Trump, he will be  reelected in 2020. And that sentiment was felt by many.

Suddenly a “whistleblower” who had previously worked with John Brennan and Joe Biden and had been removed from the White House for leaking, Eric Ciaramella by name, many sources assert, claimed (from second hand information) that Trump had threatened to cut off aid to the Ukraine if they didn’t  dig up dirt on Joe Biden, a possible presidential rival.  President Trump immediately released the transcript of the  call which contained  no threats or mention of aid.  President Zelensky of the Ukraine confirms that the transcript is accurate and that he never felt threatened during the phone call.

More unbelievably,  Eric  Ciaramella, the supposed whistleblower, never heard the phone call, went first to Adam Schiff for help in wording the complaint, was a CIA agent with connections to John Brennan, had been removed from  the White House  because of leaking to the press, was an anti-Trump  Obama holdover, and had worked with Joe Biden.

Then  the sham began.  Adam Schiff first vowed that he had never had contact with the “whistleblower” prior to his complaint to the Inspector General.  That was, of course, another Schiff lie.  Then, Schiff stood before the House with television cameras running and read what he claimed was part of President Trump’s conversation with President Zelensky. What he read  was filled with bellicose threats, repeated numerous times.  What he read was also a baldfaced lie.  President Trump had released the transcript and what Schiff read was certainly not in it.  When confronted with his audacious behavior, Schiff excused his reading as a “parody” of Trump’s call.

Then Adam Schiff’s Intelligence Committee was pegged by Nancy Pelosi to run the “impeachment inquiry,” not the Judiciary Committee whose job it is.  Meetings were held in a sound-proof room in the basement of the House, Republican Judiciary Committee members who tried to enter were kicked out, cell phones were banned, and Republican members were only allowed to read one page summaries Schiff had made of testimonies and that in the presence of a Democratic staffer.

Schiff coached witnesses before and during their testimonies, trying to get them to say what he wanted them to say.  When a Republican asked  a question he didn’t want answered, he would stop the witness from answering, often shouting “No,  no, no!”  No legal representative for the President was allowed to attend.  After a group of angry House Republicans stormed the meeting room, Pelosi finally felt impelled to hold the House vote she should have held to begin with.  However, instead of asking them to vote to begin impeachment hearings,  she had them vote to continue the impeachment inquiry which was already underway— sham, though it was.

The vote was strictly along party lines  except for two sane Democratic Representatives  who voted with the Republicans.  Many of the Democratic Representatives from districts that Trump had won in 2016 had  to be bribed to vote for the inquiry, with money paid into their campaigns directly from Adam Schiff’s own treasure chest.  Pelosi set rules which have no connection to the rules that  governed both the Nixon and Bill Clinton impeachments.  Republicans could subpoena witnesses, but only witnesses that Adam Schiff  agreed should appear.  Republicans could question witnesses,  but Schiff would prevent witnesses from answering any questions he didn’t want answered.

And so, yesterday,  it began—a  public, televised hearing which most Americans didn’t bother to watch.  In recent polls by the Associated Press-NORC  Center for Public Affairs, 59% of Americans don’t believe anything in the President’s call was illegal.  The New  York Times Upshot/Siena College poll concluded that 53% of voters in the battleground states of Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona don’t want to see the president impeached.  This is not good news for the Democrats.

More bad news is the fact that most of the Democrat’s witnesses are disgruntled hold-overs from the Obama years, some of whom have been replaced by President Trump, and who have absolutely no direct knowledge of what was said in that phone call except for the transcript that all of us can read.  They  were not, in other words, there. Their testimonies are mostly whinings about their disgruntlement with the policy of this Republican president, who (gasp) is not doing things like his predecessor the Great Apologizer did. When they testify that Trump attempted to shake down President Zelensky, their information is all second or third hand and sometimes from men like Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland who first didn’t remember anything about withholding  funds if dirt on Biden was not forthcoming, but later thought maybe he did remember something.  Still, he wasn’t really sure why the funds might be held up. (They were held up while Trump tried to encourage other NATO nations to contribute more.  He famously complains that we supply guns and they supply pillows.  The money, by the way, was eventually sent.)

Here is the  questioning of the Envoy to the Ukraine William Taylor by Rep. Mark Meadows which clearly shows the depth of knowledge that these “wistnesses” have on the issue:

Jordan: You didn’t listen in on President Trump & Zelensky’s call?

Taylor: I did not.

Jordan: You’ve never talked with Chief of Staff Mulvaney?

Taylor: I never did.

Jordan: You’ve never met the President?

Taylor: That’s correct.

Jordan: And you’re their star witness.

What a sham.  But then,  after the Russian Collusion Hoax which dragged on for years, why should we be surprised.  After all, as Al Green said, if they can’t impeach Trump, he will win in 2020 and while that would be great for the country, it would be more despair for Democrats.  Poor losers!
