Whoopi Goldberg wore a “handmaid” red robe on the View’s Halloween show. Most of you are no doubt familiar by now with the Margaret Atwood novel The Handmaid’s Tale, whose red-robbed, white bonneted characters became so commonly used by the pro-abortion crowd following the leaking of the proposed reversal of Roe v. Wade. In the novel, Gilead, a New England of the near future, is a patriarchal society run on strict and twisted Calvinistic principles, where women are denigrated and divided into wives, handmaids that bear the children for them, and Marthas who are the servants. Whoopi’s “handmaid” robe bore a message that read: “my body, my morals, my life, my choice, not yours.” As dumb comments, this is, of course, one of the dumbest, though it repeats the mantra the pro-abortion crowd have been screaming at us for years. Let’s take these words apart and look at them closely.
What Whoopi and her ilk mean is that if she chooses to practice unprotected sex and gets pregnant, it is her choice. Okay. Everyone does stupid things at some time in their lives, hopefully mostly when they are too young to know better, but yes, we’ll give her that one. If she chooses to put herself in the position to get pregnant when she knows there are ways to avoid that, from abstinence to birth control, then she must also deal with the consequences. Here, however, is where she and I would diverge in our thinking. At the moment of conception that fetus has its own unique DNA and within six and a half to seven weeks, a beating heart, the universal sign of life. Thus, to kill a baby through abortion after seven weeks is to murder a human being. And to abort a baby after fifteen weeks, pulling it from the mother’s womb leg by leg and arm by arm, is to torture and mutilate an innocent child that can feel the excruciating pain of dismemberment. Even the Left decries torture and generally they appear to be against murder as well, especially if the murder can be pinned on a conservative rightly or wrongly!
And as for the “my body,” Whoopi forgets that in abortion while she talks narcissistically about her body, she ignores the living human being inside of her who also has his or her own “my body” and who is also guaranteed “life” by the Bill of Rights.
But then, Whoopi claims, since it is her body, it is also her morals that must be followed. If she finds nothing wrong with murdering an innocent baby up to the moment of delivery or allowing a baby who survives abortion alive to die a slow death in the cold, sterile operating room, then she should be allowed to follow any of her inclinations without impediment by the law. Were we to follow that argument, our society which as of now only kills or mutilates our innocent babies and school age children would sink into total barbarism with absolutely no restrictions on how we treat others except our own personal morals, assuming we have any at all.
Thus, it would be okay for a man to attack Sen. Rand Paul as he innocently sat on his lawn mower, or for another man to open fire on the entire Republican side of Congress as they practiced for a ballgame, or for another man to drive his SUV over a young 18-year old kid because he thought he was a MAGA Republican whom the president had recently denounced as extremists and terrorists. It would be okay for people to hound and harass Republicans as they tried to eat in restaurants, driving them to abandon their meals and leave. Republicans running for office would be attacked by knife-wielding Democrats as they stood on platforms before crowds at rallies, giving speeches. An armed assassin might show up outside the home of a Justice of the Supreme Court, intent upon murdering him and perhaps his family as well. An 80-year-old woman might be shot as she canvased her neighbors for Right to Life. Election workers for Governor Abbott might be assaulted as they knocked on doors, stumping for the governor’s re-election. An election worker in Florida might be sent to the hospital after being beaten up as he attempted to pass out flyers for Sen. Marco Rubio in a Florida neighborhood. Crisis Pregnancy Centers might be graffitied and bombed by the dozens with no one arrested from among the Antifa-related “Jane’s Revenge” group, and GOP election offices around the country might be vandalized. Oh, but these things have already happened! And they have all been done by Democrats, showing that their “morals” are already distinctly lacking in the “love thy neighbor” department!
But beyond these politically motivated hate crimes, if every individual is allowed to operate under his or her own morals as Whoopi argues— “my body, my morals”— then there is no law in the land that is absolute. Murder is not wrong. Torture is not wrong. Whatever you, at any given moment, can rationalize doing, is entirely right. That Democrats, those on the coasts, anyway, already feel this way, is blatantly obvious in the riots, the looting, the arson, the murders of the summer of 2020, when, in the name of Saint George Floyd The Criminal, they destroyed large portions of every major city run by Democrats in the country. The sad and most telling part of their rampage was that the very buildings that they destroyed were most often owned by the black minority they purported to be rioting in support of. “Justice for blacks! We’ll get it by burning down black businesses!” No, the crowds were, like Whoopi, morally bankrupt individuals who were out for a night of revelry and free stuff! Whoopi and her friends have left God and his commandments far behind, so why should some measly laws stop them?
Whoopi goes on to say that it is “my life, my choice, not yours.” Here again she flies against the law of the land. Where we have laws against beating people up, against stealing, against setting fires to people’s businesses, against murder, the Democrats are intent upon ignoring them. When the police, whom they have made great inroads on getting rid of, actually arrest criminals for these crimes, Democrat District Attorneys release them with no bail, Democrat judges give them light or no sentences, and Democrat governors give early release even to murderers in an effort to “lessen the overpopulation of blacks in prisons.” Blacks are in prisons because, as even many honest blacks will agree, young black men commit a disproportionate number of crimes given their percentage of the total population. Most blacks are killed, not by police or by whites, but by other blacks, for example. Why is there such an uptick in crime across the country? Because Democrats are operating, not by the law, but by “ my morals, my life, my choice, not yours.”
Sadly for Democrats, large swaths of the population do not hold to this view. Most people believe in law and order. Most people believe, for example, that suicide is wrong, whether for religious or simply personal reasons. Whoopi’s “my life, my choice, not yours” would suggest that each individual also has the right to end his or her life when he or she chooses, something which most of us find selfish as well as morally repugnant. But then, Democrats are nothing if not narcissists, and to a narcissist, there is nothing of importance except oneself. So indeed, Whoopi no doubt speaks for masses of east and west coast yuppy Democrats when she proudly wears that dress “my body, my morals, my life, my choice, not yours.” Narcissistic, but oh, so very, very wrong!
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me,’” (Matthew 25:40 NKJV).
