Traditionally in a midterm election, that is to say, two years following a presidential election, the party not in power makes a comeback in the house and the senate.  We can not allow that to happen in 2018 for some very powerful reasons.  A Democratic House would immediately begin impeachment proceedings against the President for solely political reasons (Republicans won the presidential election and Democrats did not), jeopardizing our entire political process of free elections. The advances we have made in the growing economy as well as the tax cuts would be in peril, dependent upon the strength of the Democratic victory.  Democrats always raise taxes and impose regulations, a strategy which kept the economy creeping along under Obama at a weak 1.6% GDP.  This quarter, under President Trump, it is expected to reach 4%.

But for Christians and Jews lies the greatest danger.  The far left-wing of the Democratic party is anti-religious.  They are communists and socialists and place their trust in government rather than in God, and the Democratic Party as a whole is sliding quickly into their camp.  We saw during the Obama years the beginning of what will happen under the next Democratic president.  Christians were required by law to do things that were against their religious beliefs.  Cities were sued for having Nativity Scenes on public ground at Christmas or even for allowing a sign at the city limits saying that the churches of that town welcomed people.  Suddenly male and female were not the only genders, and accommodations were forced to be made for all the other genders. Children as young as kindergarten had to be taught about transgender since some liberal parents suddenly believed that 6-year-old Billy really was a Mary and so needed to be fed hormones to make him as outwardly feminine as possible despite the fact that we remain blissfully and dangerously unaware of the effects of those hormones on developing pre-pubescent bodies.

Then let’s take a look at what has happened recently in Canada which, under Trudeau, is marching farther and farther to the left, despite the will of the people.  In Alberta, Canada, Child and Family Services would not let a Christian couple adopt a child because the couple believed that sex should not be explored until after marriage. Such beliefs, the CFS argued, would not create a “safe, healthy, loving and inclusive home.”

In June, Ontario passed a law that would not allow families to adopt or even foster children unless the couple swore that they would facilitate and support a child’s desire to change gender from male to female or female to male if the child so desired.

The Canadian Supreme Court will soon decide whether or not attorneys who hold orthodox religious views about sexuality will be allowed to practice law in Canada.

According to the DailySignal.com, “Trinity Western University is the only Canadian university to have received an A+ grade in quality of education over the past seven years, yet before they even opened their law school, the accrediting legal societies within Nova Scotia, Ontario, and British Columbia voted not to accredit their graduates because the Christian university has Orthodox Christian beliefs about marriage and sexuality.”

But lest we fall back on the old “It will never happen here!” despite the lessons of eight years of Obama, consider this.  Illinois, like Ontario, is requiring foster parents to “affirm” the gender choice of any child under their care and to facilitate any needed medical procedures for a child to change gender.  Choice? I’m sorry, but according to pediatricians, gender is determined by DNA, not by feelings or choice.  You either have a Y chromosome and you are a boy or you do not and you are a girl.  No medical procedure can change that, regardless of what some of the left would have us believe. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal by former Johns Hopkins Hospital psychiatrist-in-chief Dr. Paul R. McHugh transgenderism is a “mental disorder” which warrants medical treatment. He said, “policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending [rather] than a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention” (Townhall.com).

In Michigan, the ACLU is suing the state over legislation that allows faith-based adoptions agencies under government contract to only place children in families with a mother and a father.  This is despite the many studies that have shown that children in families with a mother and a father are healthier and less likely to have problems with drugs or the law later in life than those in other family situations.

And in 2015, the mayor of Salem, Massachusetts, lambasted Gordon College, a Christian university, for its beliefs about marriage after the university president wrote to President Obama asking for a religious exemption from a forthcoming executive order on hiring practices related to sexual orientation and gender identity.  Lynn Public Schools then banned Gordon College students who were majoring in education from training as student teachers at local public schools.  The New England Association of Schools and Colleges even held a special meeting to consider revoking Gordon’s accreditation.

Americans must decide if they want high taxes, poor health care and long waits under universal coverage (the Democrats’ goal); the government seizing millions of acres of land in the west; Christians, Jews, and even Muslims being forced to do things that are against their religious beliefs; multitudinous government regulations to manage every aspect of our lives and stifle the economy; unskilled workers from countries all over the world flooding our country both legally and illegally and joining the welfare rolls; and MS 13 gangs selling drugs and dispensing death in our cities.  If they do, then they should vote Democratic.

If they prefer fewer restrictions, land use determined more by states than by the bureaucrats in Washington, freedom to practice their religious beliefs without interference, a chance for better and more affordable health care where they can actually get in to see a doctor, more money in their pockets and a booming economy with low unemployment, skilled immigrants legally entering the country to fill jobs in highly technical fields and contribute to the tax roll, and stricter law enforcement, then they should vote Republican.  It is that simple.

And for Christians, it is simpler yet. There was a day when both parties protected religious beliefs.  That day is long gone.  Only Republicans will protect Christianity in America. There is no other choice left.
