Never in my lifetime has a president of the United States so shamed his office and his nation as has our current “leader.” Crowds at college football games, at the Ryder Cup, at concerts, and even in mall eating areas across the country have broken into vulgar chants invoking his name. And why such animosity? Certainly, 4.5% inflation up from 1.4% when Biden took office, the empty new car lots in Paris and elsewhere, the rise in cost of food, clothing, building materials, new cars (if you could get them), gasoline and heating fuel, the myriad of jobs available while the government pays workers to stay home – – – these all have hurt. But the fiasco in Afghanistan has horrified Americans on both sides of the aisle. We pulled our last soldiers out of the country on August 30, but although it is now almost October, this is not a failure we can ignore. We left behind millions of dollars -worth of high-tech airplanes, vehicles, and rifles for the Taliban to use or sell. And we left behind American citizens as well as those we had promised to take with us as we left. This is not over and cannot be forgotten!
President Trump intended to pull our troops out and had a number of contingency plans in place dependent upon the responses of the Taliban. His administration even had an emergency evacuation plan in case everything had collapsed, as it did. But Biden threw out the plans and began to pull out troops before civilians and without notifying our allies of what he was going to do.
Our allies had to scramble to try to evacuate all of their citizens before we left Kabul for good. They sent soldiers out into the city and countryside to rescue their citizens and even some of ours, although an American General had told them not to because it would make us look bad! Look bad? Oh, yes, it looked bad! While other countries went after their people, we told ours to make their own way to the airport in Kabul, and thousands with papers to enter the U.S. never made it because the Taliban stopped them, beat some of them up, and stole all of their identification. The most heart rendering is that the entire faculty and students of the American University with their families were loaded into buses and made it to the airport gates. There they sat for hours waiting to board a plane, only to be told that no more evacuations were going to take place. They were right there! Surely there was a plane or two or three which could have taken them. But no, the troops had their orders. They left on the 30th, a day early, leaving thousands behind to die!
American troops had sneaked out of the Bagram airfield in the dead of night, and it wasn’t until two hours later that the Afghan commander there knew they had gone. Along with their departure, they left not only airplanes and weapons, but also thousands of ISIS prisoners, all of whom were immediately released by the Taliban. Among them was the suicide bomber who later murdered our troops at a gate to the Kabul airport.
When our allies realized what was happening, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson immediately called Biden, but Biden wouldn’t take his call. He waited 36 hours before calling the Prime Minister back. The British Parliament took the unprecedented move of voting to censure the “President of the United States,” condemning his actions in the Afghanistan withdrawal. And French President Macron, who was to later recall his ambassador from the United States for another offense by Biden, lectured Biden on America’s moral responsibility to our Afghan allies, whose lives we had pledged to protect, but whom we were abandoning to their deaths.
But nothing worked. The Biden administration asked the Taliban for a few more days beyond August 31 to get everyone out, but the Taliban refused, so Biden evacuated our last soldiers on August 30, leaving behind hundreds, perhaps thousands of American citizens including children, thousands of Afghan translators, and trained military dogs.
When thirteen of our troops at the airport were killed by a suicide bomber, as by their bodies were returned to the U.S., Biden looked at his watch repeatedly, as if he were bored. Under the same conditions, President Trump had solemnly saluted each casket. Reports suggest we knew of the bomber, had a drone homed in on him, but Biden would not give the go ahead to strike. Forced into making some gesture by even his own Party, Biden ordered a drone strike that killed a suspected terrorist, well outside of Kabul where the attacks had taken place. A second strike supposedly took out another terrorist, but we now know it was an Afghan aid worker and his family that we murdered, nine in all including seven children.
Private groups had charter planes sitting on the tarmac at Mazar-i-Sharif airport in northern Afghanistan to evacuate Americans and others for days, but the State Department refused to let them land on any military base in the world including in the U.S. Clearance has since allowed for some planes to leave, but today, some Biden bureaucrat has denied landing privileges in the U.S. to another flight of 100 American citizens, special visa holders, and 59 children. The flight is currently stuck in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, who have been allowing them to land and refuel there. The children on board are sleeping on waiting room chairs and the floor while the groups who arranged the flight, Project Dynamo and The Human First Coalition attempt to find someone in the Biden administration with some sense.
Veteran organizations in the U.S. are also trying to do what the “Commander in Chief” would not, “leave no man behind.” Yet they are finding themselves faced with odd and questioning visits from the FBI. Do they intend to label these former soldiers as “domestic terrorists” intent on some nefarious plot to overthrow the government by rescuing stranded and endangered Americans? Now the Taliban is torturing and murdering those whose names they were given by the U.S., people who were to be allowed by the Taliban to get to the Kabul airport to be evacuated. Instead they are being hunted down and killed, an easy job since we provided addresses, photos, and even biometrics for each of them! The Taliban even beheaded a couple of children the other day. When will it be Americans? Meanwhile, Biden keeps going on vacation in Delaware, Camp David, and at the beach.
Is it any wonder that crowds are chanting vulgar chants about Biden?
