Much was made in the main stream media of President Trump’s comment about MS-13 gang members being animals. For the sake of their argument, of course, the liberals and their liberal media neglected to mention the context of the discussion and instead simply reported that the President was calling all immigrants, both legal and illegal, animals. When called on their perfidy, many then struggled to excuse even gangs members as having something of “the divine” in them, who, as human beings should never be degraded with the term “animals!” How delightful to see liberals defending those who rape, hack to death, and tear the hearts out of living human beings!
Liberals have good reason to protect illegal immigrants. These unskilled, poor individuals usually come from countries that struggle under some form of socialism, so for them, the socialistic agenda of the Democratic Party seems normal and right, and so, many of them vote (illegally) and vote Democratic. The Democratic Party no longer has much to offer the blue-collar workers who used to be their base and little by little, Black Americans are waking up to the fact that Democrats promise much and deliver little, and are turning to the Republican Party. The Democrats need illegal immigrants in order to provide them with a new base of support.
In addition, it is not the average American who benefits from the illegal alien population. Rather it is the elites who make up the bulk of Democratic voters. For them, illegal aliens provide cheap labor to cook their meals, clean their houses, tend their lawns, care for their children and clean their pools. They can pay these illegals a pittance in cash with no one the wiser. They argue that these are jobs that most Americans would not do, and they are correct. Most Americans would not work for the few dollars that they pay these illegal workers, and so without illegal aliens, these elites would have to dig deeper into their pockets or start mowing their own yards and cooking their own meals, God forbid! As for picking fruit on farms in California? Well, teenagers in Indiana and Illinois and other corn belt states regularly walk corn fields in the summer. These are hot and dirty jobs, but the kids do them every year. We don’t hire illegal aliens to do them for us. No doubt, if given the chance, high schoolers would pick fruit and vegetables as well. . . for a decent wage.
So, to the elites, the benefits of illegal aliens is great, but what is the cost to Americans as a whole? With the illegal aliens come gangs like MS-13 whose 10,000 members in the U.S. have as their motto, “Murder, Rape, Control.” They recruit from among junior high students and kill those who defy them in the most horrific ways. In Latin America, they are reported to decapitate their victims and then play soccer with their heads. Here, they have been known to carve a victim’s heart out of his body while he was still alive!
Beyond the gangs, the violence, and the drugs that they bring into our communities, there are other costs as well, as related by John Zmirak in an article on Townhall on May 21, 2018.
- 80% of Central American women and girls illegally entering the U.S. are raped on the journey.
- Taxpayers spend nearly $30 billion yearly on non-emergency medical expenses for illegal immigrants.
- States spend $44 billion a year to educate illegal immigrants.
- The net costs of illegal immigrants to U.S. taxpayers is $116 billion a year.
Despite aliens, legal and illegal, being only 9% of the population, they make up 27% of all federal prisoners.
So much for the liberal narrative that all illegal aliens are valedictorians at their high schools! Some certainly are, but others commit rape, robbery, muggings, murders, and vehicular manslaughter driving while intoxicated. Without them, our prison system would have 27% fewer inmates and our streets would be safer places for all Americans.
Indeed, many of us are the descendants of immigrants. My own father’s grandfather and my mother’s great grandmother came from Sweden and Norway respectively. They were farm folk and settled onto the then plentiful farm land of Minnesota. They worked hard, they learned English, they assimilated into the American culture, proud to become Americans. But while the country was happy to have more farmers in the 1800s when unclaimed farm land was available across the country, that situation no longer exists. Unskilled workers are no longer needed in our technical world, because our own unskilled population is sufficient to fill the jobs that are available to them. We are nearing the point where the number of able-bodied workers is equal to the number of open jobs. More unskilled immigrants, either legal or illegal, simply put more strain on our already overburdened welfare system and really do take jobs away from Americans.
We have always been a country of laws. In fact, a country can not exist without laws and the will to enforce those laws. But two major problems prevent the United States from protecting itself from unwanted and unskilled immigrants. The first is the porous southern border across which drugs and humans are trafficked daily in large numbers. The laws currently on the books require that if they utter the word “asylum,” they must be allowed to stay in the country until their appeal for sanctuary has been decided by a judge. Most disappear into so-called “sanctuary cities” and never return to prove their legal right to claim asylum status. Liberals welcome them, MS-13 gang members and mothers with children alike, in the name of generosity and love, and chide those of us who cry “How can you have a country if you have no borders?” for our hatred and lack of Christian love.
The second is two-fold: a lottery system that legally admits anyone as long as they are from a list of mostly third-world countries from whom we used to admit few immigrants. Their skills are not in question and their terrorist connections are difficult to ascertain, given the poor governmental oversight in the countries from which they come. Then, once these unskilled immigrants have entered the country, they may use chain migration to bring in virtually every member of their extended families. For every immigrant admitted through the lottery system, chain migration often brings in as many as 20-30 family members.
Both of these problems need to be addressed and the President is indeed trying to do so. Unfortunately, the Democrats, needing these immigrants, both legal and illegal, for their votes and their cheap labor, continue to obstruct him at every turn. Their excuse is that diversity is needed to make this country a better place. But their “diversity” is instead turning America into a country that would be unrecognizable to its founding fathers. Where was the rule of law when former President Obama simply enforced the laws he liked and ignored the others? Where was the rule of law when he circumvented a Congress elected by the people in order to put HIS regulations into effect as if they were laws? He governed at the very edge of tyranny, imagining his phone and his pen to be as powerful as the scepter of King George III himself. And his party, the Democrats, continue to defy laws and create regulations that are unconstitutional in an effort to transform this country into a socialist society, far from the constitutional republic of its founding.
We must support President Trump in his efforts to protect our southern border and to change the immigration rules put forth by Democrats which have landed us in this morass. We need a merit system of immigration by which those who have skills that are needed in our society are invited in to become American citizens and those who have nothing to offer us must find somewhere else to go. Our resources are not unlimited. We are trillions of dollars in debt. We can barely manage to support our elderly through Social Security and Medicare and our needy through welfare. We can not also support the world.
This is a simplistic analogy, but an apt one. Our family loves cats. We have several of them, only two of which were not rescue animals. Every time we see cats displayed in cages at Pet Smart, we long to take them home, to give them love and security. But we can not. We know, as does every animal loving individual, that you simply can not care for every needy animal in the world. We look upon those homeless cats with compassion and regret and hope that someone else will give them what they need, and we donate to the Pet Smart Charities to help feed them until someone else rescues them. The people of the United States are generous and giving, conservatives even more so than liberals. But even our country, rich and vast as it is, can not absorb the poor and needy of every nation. We have reached our limit, nay gone beyond our limit. The billions spent each year on those who broke the law to sneak into our country are billions that could be spent on our own needy.
It is time for Americans to take care of our own. We must change the immigration problems that beset us and change them now and we can only do that by electing Republicans to congress in the fall. To elect a Democrat, no matter how middle of the road he or she sounds, is to send another obstructionist to Congress who in the end, will hold to the Democratic Party line and vote lock step against the President. If we elect Democrats, there will be no border wall and no change to the current immigration system. If we elect Democrats, the tax bill will be instantly repealed and our wallets will have considerably less money in them as the Democrats raise our taxes even higher and our booming economy will be reduced to whimpering along. If we elect Democrats, laws infringing upon our second amendment right to bear arms will be passed and our religious liberties will once again come under fire as they did under the Obama administration. We can not elect Democrats this fall, not any Democrats, if we wish to save America.
