We are now four months into the Biden era. President* promised to bring unity back to the nation, provide jobs and defeat the Chinese virus. Although it is a little soon to call his entire Presidency a failure, certain indications are evident that his administration is headed for the abyss.
Optics are sometimes instructive of people’s direction. Recently, on a trip to Georgia, the *President and his wife, Jill, visited Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter, residents of the White House from 1977 to 1981. Pictures from that visit show the four of them together, with the Carters looking frail, as both are in their 90s (Jimmy will be 97 later this year.) With most close observers of the national scene looking on the Carter Presidency as the worst of the modern era, perhaps the smiles on the faces of the most famous residents of Plains, Georgia, was an indication that they feel that Joe* will finally sink below them in the ranking of the competence of recent Chief Executives.
How well has Biden’s* policies fared? Before January 20, 2021, we here in the Midwest were able to purchase gas for our cars for close to, and in some cases, below $2 per gallon. In our small town, the lowest today is $3.17 per gallon. Of course Biden has not taken any responsibility for this, even though his canceling of the Keystone XL pipeline on his first day in office and the banning of fracking on federal lands and the issuing of new permits for energy exploration being nixed on the same day has had an inflationary effect on those prices.
As far as jobs are concerned, his above mentioned action resulted in 11,000 jobs lost with his signature, and the loss of pipeline related jobs along the route of the pipeline, which, to some, will result in more than 40,000 more now on the unemployment line.
The Biden* administration proudly predicted that the April jobs report would see in excess of one million new jobs added to the economy. When the numbers fell, only 266,000 jobs were added. (A note on this: because each month newly minted job seekers are automatically added because of the normal rise in employment of those who become adults and are now qualified for jobs.) This shortfall of expectations and reality was the worst since 1998, or before, in the history of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Of course, the *administration tried to spin the almost three-fourths of a million jobs not taken as the continuing problem due to the pandemic, but even liberal commentators mentioned how bad this looked for that job-creating candidate, now President.
Most Americans believe that abortions should not be paid for by public money, but since Biden’s* tenure began, his policies have begun the process of carving out places where such barbarous actions can tap into the federal treasury for the procedure. He is the ‘head’ of the Democratic Party, which seeks to purge itself of any pro-life office holders; they wrote the pro-choice position into their party platform during the last election cycle.
Foreign nations generally respected the time when Donald Trump was President, partly because they did not know how he would react in situations where they had to deal with him. Under Biden’s leadership, such respect has now melted away faster that ice in the Saharan sun. Countries like North Korea and China have publicly snubbed the United States and our new Secretary of State, Antony Blinken has been found wanting on the world stage. In Alaska, Blinken et al endured a 17 minute criticism of our policies; in other words, Blinken blinked. Just this week, Blinken went to the United Nations and argued for the U. S. upholding the internationally recognized rule of law, effectively arguing that we are no better than any of the other nations in the world, that we are not a special country.
Perhaps the most visible and egregious failure is at the Southern border of the U. S., between us and Mexico. Illegal aliens are arriving by the many thousands, and the ‘surge’ is the highest in at least 20 years; it has deposited most minors than ever before and are overwhelming the ability of the Border Patrol to handle the influx. Biden and cohorts refuse to all it a crisis, but one Representative from Texas and one Senator from Arizona, whose states are impacted are criticizing their party leader, the aforementioned *, to do something.
One law passed with no votes from Republicans have now committed 1.9 trillion dollars in new spending. An infrastructure bill, has passed the House with no votes from Republicans which will add another 2 trillion dollars plus to the spending spree of the new administration.
Other actions include an attempt to kill the Senate filibuster, which would alter the historic role of the ‘upper chamber’ in protecting the rights of the minority in our governmental deliberations. Also being considered is a proposal to increase the number of Supreme Court Justices from nine to thirteen, effectively packing the Court in favor of the liberal wing of the Democrat Party.
And the disastrous, budget-busting Green New Deal is not dead yet, though it should be. Far left legislators are trying to introduce Critical Race Theory into our school system, and woe to those who challenge transgendeerism being taught to elementary children.
Already Biden* has failed in his stated goal of bringing us together, as bills and key personnel are being approved on strait party line votes. His administration has been so ineffective and wrong that Republicans are frothing at the mouth for a chance to change the makeup of the House and Senate in 2022, and there is no lack of candidates for the next Presidential election in 2024 in the GOP stable.
Looking at all this, no wonder the Carters were smiling when meeting with the Bidens. In just four months, this administration has just wiped out their standing as the worst of the modern Presidents, making them not as bad as previously ranked.
