Last night at the State of the Union Speech, Democratic members of Congress demonstrated their contempt not only for the President of the United States, but also for the people of America. Despite the fact that they want the votes of Blacks and Hispanics, they really don’t seem to care much about them. When the President reported accurately that both Black and Hispanic Americans are now experiencing lower unemployment that ever before, the Republican side of the chamber erupted in ovations and cheers, as the lawmakers and guests surged to their feet. But the Democrats, those who proclaim their love and concern for Blacks and Hispanics, sat on their hands, their faces glum and angry.
The President and the First Lady invited as their guests to the speech, American heroes: parents who had lost their daughters to MS 13 violence; a soldier who had rushed into a booby-trapped building to rescue an injured fellow soldier, performing CPR and a tracheotomy to keep that soldier alive until they reached a hospital; a police officer and his wife who adopted the baby of an opioid addict; a volunteer who created the Cajun Navy which has helped rescue thousands affected by natural disasters in the southern states; Corporal Matthew Bradford, the first blind, double amputee to reenlist in the Marines; a 12 year-old-boy who started a country-wide movement to place flags and flowers on the graves of veterans; and others.
The Democrats brought some illegal aliens, showing as they did during the Schumer Shutdown that they care more for illegal aliens than they do for the citizens who elected them to office.
Some Democratic professors have called President Trump’s State of the Union address “carnage porn” at a “KKK rally” and suggested that every standing ovation, all 115 of them (even apparently those celebrating the rising economic conditions of people of color in the U.S.) was “a cheer for racism and hatred.” Another professor claimed to be embarrassed for his country because the audience broke several times into chants of “U S A!” Really? And the ACLU complained that the President used the word “America” 80 time in the speech! Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the whole speech was to discuss the “state of the union” . . . uh, that’s America, folks!
A fact checker tried to say today that “E Pluribus Unum” (out of many one) is the motto of the United States, not “In God We Trust” as President Trump said in his speech. The fact checker should have checked his facts: The motto has been on United States coins since 1864 but became the official U.S. national motto after the passage of an Act of Congress in 1956. It is codified as federal law in the United States Code at 36 U.S. 302 which says: “’In God we trust.’ is the national motto.”
And last night during the SOTU speech, MSNBC host Joy Reid tweeted: “Church … family … police … military … the national anthem … Trump trying to call on all the tropes of 1950s-era nationalism. The goal of this speech appears to be to force the normalization of Trump on the terms of the bygone era his supporters are nostalgic for.” Nostalgic for? Is she nuts? Those “tropes” have only disappeared where she lives, not where the rest of us live! Where would this country be without families to nurture and teach our children how to behave toward others? Where would this country be without police to protect us at home and the military to protect us from foreign foes? Where would this country be without the Church which preaches love for our neighbors, regardless of their color and is filled with Christians who give of their time and money to charities and to the victims of disasters both here and abroad? Where would this country be without a Flag to honor that reminds us of the sacrifices that our forefathers made to give us the prosperity and freedoms that this country enjoys? Where would this country be without a National Anthem to remind us that this is the “land of the free and the home of the brave?” Where would this country be without patriotism? According to Joy Reid, we would all be Democrats, silencing the speech of those who disagree with us, dividing people into groups according to color instead of unifying us as Americans, throwing the terms racist and bigot at all of our enemies whenever they dare to disagree with us.
It is clear that Democrats have come to detest this country in which they live and to despise most of the ordinary people who inhabit it. If you are a person of color or a woman, in their eyes you are helpless and needy, unable to survive in this world without them to protect you. If you are a White man, you are the devil, unless, of course, you are a Democratic White man, in which case you get a pass as long as you throw around the terms “Whiteness,” “Racism,” “Nazis,” and “White Supremacists” often enough when referring to non-Democrats.
Most Democrats don’t like us, any of us, no matter the color of our skin. They only want our votes so they can once again turn the entire country into groups of color-coded tribes that hate each other because they are told they must. Identity politics. Divide and conquer. As long as we are at each others’ throats, we will be too busy to notice that the government is taking all of our money and giving us nothing in return. We won’t notice as our freedoms disappear one by one. We will come to accept terrorist attacks, the shooting of children in big cities, and the atrocities of gangs like MS 13 as normal life. We will lose America and ourselves in the process.
