Most people are born naturally inquisitive, wanting to find out about their world and the people about them. However, when grown up (if any of us ever really do that!) I feel that two distinct personalities appear.
The first group is those who observe of how life, politics and relationships are perceived, and a healthy cynicism is developed. I would call these people rational, normal and Republicans. They do not take stuff at face value, but study, examine and determine what is sane and (mostly) right.
Our second group is comprised of those who look at life with a comforting world view, and know that our betters, the elite, only want the best for us. Every pronouncement that comes from our leaders is seen as good, and only have the people’s best interests at heart. Perhaps we could call these humans gullible, stupid, ignorant — maybe Democrats.
Many citizens believe that our President* is sane, capable and compassionate. When he claims that his 1.7 trillion Build Back Better bill will cost nothing, those in the second group listen and wisely nod their heads. When Joe Biden tells stories that are provably false, we see millions smiling and feeling that since he was elected surely he knows more than any fact checker alive. There are too many times we see those who are gullible nodding at Biden’s statements that we wonder why our government doesn’t harness this movement to become part of the renewable energy they so badly want.
Not to belabor Biden’s rather cavalier approach to truth, he again claimed that the vaxxed are completely safe from the COVID and the variants that arise from that. Those who agree with him are many, in spite of the ‘breakthrough cases’, which are clearly caused by those who are ‘fully’ vaccinated. Surely, they reason, the President*, with all his erudite advisors, knows what he is talking about.
AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), the leader of the far left “squad” in the House of Representatives, has her own many times standing afar off from truth or reality, yet there are those who listen raptly to her musings. Many of the ignorant just agreed with her now famous assertion that the reason employment was at an all time high was because many were working more than one job. Since she has a degree in economics from a prestigious university, ordinary Americans who have no close relationship to sanity solemnly nod their heads in agreement.
Nancy Pelosi, the wrinkled crone who is Speaker of the U. S. House, once remarked about then President Obama’s bill which would make ObamaCare a reality, that we had to “pass this bill to find out what was in it”. Much the same was said by Pelosi about the BBB bill now to be debated in the Senate. If Senator Manchin holds his position, many of our second group will sadly realize Pelosi was right and they will never know what was included in that bill.
Legion are the examples of ignorant, perhaps stupid, but certainly Democrats who claimed damaging things about Donald Trump while he was in the Oval Office. Take Adam Schiff (please take him!), who repeatedly stated he had proof that Trump was an acolyte of Russia’s Vladimir Putin. This claim, which he has never disavowed, was disproven by the special prosecutor and by two recent grand jury indictments, yet Schiff’s assertions were received by millions as if they were handed down from the oracles on Mt. Olympus.
And then there is Dr. Anthony Fauci. This medical man became the face of the battle against the COVID-19 virus. Hordes of Americans, like the lemmings of the fairy tale, follow his every pronouncement, agreeing with his conclusions and waiting breathlessly for the next precious declarations from him. His flip flops on mask wearing resemble a fish out of water writhing around. “Fifteen days to flatten the curve”, which has now extended into over a year and a half came from him. Lockdowns, which did nothing to stop the virus, were encouraged by Dr. Fauci. He has now claimed that the new mutation of COVID, the Omicron, is a dangerous sight on the distant horizon, in spite of the fact that the discoverer of said mutation claims that those so infected suffer no major symptoms. But — many believe Fauci because he is the expert!
There are those of group 2 (see above) who believe that Kyle Rittenhouse is a ‘white supremacist’ who murdered two black men and shot a third, despite the fact that he was a white man who shot three white men, and was found not guilty by a white jury who believed the video which showed him acting in self defense. Yet many persist in seeing racism in this sad tale of tragedy. Politicians, pundits, celebrities continue this canard and are believed by a large number of Americans.
Hillary Clinton claimed that the Benghazi, Libya, attack that killed four Americans, was caused by an anti-Muslim video, when it was a planned assault and she knew it almost immediately. Yet many of her political followers sagely agreed with her, firmly placing them in that second group.
In the famous phrase of Presidential*s spokesperson, Jen Psaki, we circle back to Joe Biden of the famous 81 million votes. He stated on the American withdrawal from Afghanistan, “If there’s American citizens left (on August 31), we’re gonna stay to get them all out.” Of course, many of his party believe that the withdrawal was a spectacular success, even though his own State Department admits that as many as 14,000 were, in fact, left. Who are those who believe his statements? Gullible, stupid, ignorant – perhaps deluded, but all are Democrats.
In an address at South Carolina State University, an historically black university, that when he was growing up in Delaware, Biden claimed he helped “desegregate restaurants and theaters” after attending services in a black church. But in fact, in 1987, he admitted that during the 60s, “I was in fact very concerned about the Civil Rights movement. I was not an activist.” Still, some want him to be immortalized alongside MLK, Jr., John Lewis and Jesse Jackson.
Which group do you belong to? Rational, normal and Republicans — like many of us, or the zombie followers of those who believe they know all, and solemnly agree with the words they speak, no matter how provably false they are.
