Until the pandemic hit us hard in March of 2020, America had been enjoying peace and prosperity.  Our southern border was being secured by a wall and those wishing asylum in the U.S. were having to wait in Mexico until their cases were heard.  We had become energy independent and were in fact selling gas and oil to our European allies. Jobs were plentiful and we had almost reached what economists call full employment, with more women working than since WWII, and more blacks and Hispanics working than ever before. Manufacturing jobs, which President Obama had assured us were gone from the U.S. forever, were back.  A tax bill gave 90% of Americans more money in their wallets and encouraged big businesses to expand, thereby creating even more jobs. Americans were hopeful for their future.

When the pandemic hit, because this was a manufactured virus rather than one naturally occurring in nature, no one really knew how to deal with it.  But President Trump immediately bought millions of doses of vaccines that had not yet been created, ensuring that Americans would get them for free and promised that the vaccine would be available by the end of the year.  And in fact, it was.  Three of them, in fact.  And although it took some time for people in rural areas to get access to the vaccine, by now it is available at nearly any pharmacy upon demand. And the CDC and Dr. Fauci, who was considered an expert in viral diseases, became those who talked the president into doing what he, as a businessman, did not want to do:  shutdown the economy “just for a couple of weeks to flatten the curve” they said.  When they imposed mask mandates which were not supported by scientific studies from as far back as 2009, President Trump balked.  But he was persuaded finally to go along.  As the two weeks dragged into months upon months, with the president’s approval, many red states ended their shutdowns and even their mask mandates.  And their COVID numbers were no worse, and often even better, than the numbers in blue states who ruled their citizens with an iron fist with a mask in its hand.  And, even before the election, the economy was beginning to spring back.  It looked as if there was light at the tunnel after all.

And then Biden was (fairly or dishonestly) elected president and our world shattered.

Biden immediately stopped construction on the wall at the southern border and verbally invited people to “come on in.”  And they have.  Over a million of them. From over 160 countries in the world.  Terrorists, human traffickers, drug smugglers, gang members, indigent people with no work skills and who cannot speak English.  And many who are infected with COVID. But Biden doesn’t care!

And Biden has bussed or flown them to cities around the country rather that make them wait in Mexico as Trump had done.  And we blame the uptick in COVID on Americans who chose not to get vaccinated?  From whom did they get infected, one wonders?  But Biden doesn’t care!

Biden also stopped construction on the Keystone XL Pipeline, immediately putting thousands of union workers (many of whom probably voted for him since most unions support Democrats) out of work during the pandemic when jobs were not available.  And in addition, that move cost the towns who would have fed and housed the workers and gassed up their vehicles as the pipeline progressed billions of dollars. Then he stopped fracking and drilling on public lands, thus eliminating our energy independence and raising gas prices to as much as $5.00 in some areas. He recently begged OPEC to increase their oil production in order to lower our gas prices.  They refused. But Biden doesn’t care.

Along with the high price of gasoline comes the high price of everything else, since products and food must be transported and transportation costs have skyrocketed with the price of gas.  And the contract to fill our propane tank for the winter cost us almost exactly $1,000 more than it did last year.  The rise in prices is called inflation.  The current rate of inflation is 5.4%.  Under President Trump, the highest it reached was 2.4% and it was often much lower.  Inflation hasn’t been this high since 2008. But Biden doesn’t care.

Then he signed into law a COVID relief plan that provides every out of work individual with an additional $300 per week.  This is in addition to their unemployment provided by the state.  In some states, people are making as much as $1,000 per week for sitting at home doing nothing while store shelves constantly have empty spots, car lots have few if any new vehicles, and jobs are going begging.  But Biden doesn’t care!

He extended a moratorium on evicting renters who hadn’t paid their rent.  Now during the height of the pandemic, when many were forced out of work, the moratorium made some sense.  But those very renters have gotten now three COVID relief checks from the government totaling over $3,000 in addition to the extra $300 per week on top of their unemployment.  And now jobs are plentiful!  Companies are even offering bonuses of $1,000 or more for new hires.  So why do renters still get to not pay their bills?  The people who own those rental properties, many of them ordinary individuals who bought a rental property as an investment, were supposed to get money from the states to help them out also, but most of those funds have never gotten to them.  So, they are trying to pay off mortgages on the property, keep them insured, and make repairs out of money that they don’t have, since the rent paid on the property was intended to cover those items.  Some of them went bankrupt before the Supreme Court finally declared the extension of the moratorium unconstitutional.  But Biden doesn’t care!

President Trump had announced that he would withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan by May and he and his advisors had carefully worked out the plan to do it, with contingencies plans dependent upon the actions of the Taliban.  They also had an emergency evacuation plan in case a catastrophe occurred.  But Biden got the job and threw out all of Trump’s plans.  Instead, he just began pulling troops out, leaving over $80 billion worth of equipment and weapons, most of the Afghans who had helped us through the years, and hundreds — thousands by some counts — of Americans behind.  They even released service dogs, complete with military tags, at the airport to fend for themselves or to become the service dogs of the Taliban.  Considering how they treat their women, how must they treat their dogs?  But none of them was Biden’s dog, so, Biden doesn’t care.

The U.S. had credible information that a certain individual intended to become a suicide bomber at the Kabul airport gate.  The army had a drone honed in on the man, ready to take him out, but Biden refused to give the order. So, the bomber detonated the bomb, and thirteen young American servicemen and about 170 Afghan civilians were killed.  But Biden doesn’t care.

Our allies are furious with us.  They had been given no warning of our sudden pullout. Biden wouldn’t take British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s call and then waited 36 hours before calling him back. The British Parliament censored the “so-called” President of the United States for the first time in history.  But Biden doesn’t care.

President Macron of France found it necessary to lecture Biden on our “moral obligation” to evacuate our citizens and those Afghans who had helped us.  But Biden doesn’t care.

Americans are angry.  But Biden doesn’t care.

Too be honest, I’m not sure he is capable of caring.
