The differences between the Democratic and Republican parties has grown rapidly over the years.  During the Obama presidency, the left, who align themselves with the Democrats, saw the possibility of changing traditions that have existed since America’s founding and beyond.  They managed to change the definition of marriage from the union of a man and a woman, recognized for centuries the world around and codified into law in the United States by the Defense of Marriage Act into the union of a man and a woman or two men or two women, through the decision of the liberal Supreme Court.  Other changes came quickly as even the president repeatedly talked of “income equality” as if what you earned was not yours to keep but must be shared with the less skilled or the more lazy.

Then the 2016 election rolled around.  Hillary Clinton, who had lost the presidential nomination to Barack Obama eight years before, felt entitled to the position and, helped by some shady dealing in the Democratic National Party, got it. But the unlikely Republican candidate, a billionaire businessman and T.V. personality, Donald Trump, spoke to those in the country who had felt neglected and misused for the past eight years.  He won the election in a sweeping victory of electoral votes and the Democratic Party lost their minds. The gap between the parties widened beyond imagining and the Democratic Party  of the Reagan years where Democratic Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill worked with the president for the good of the country.

Now, the Democratic Party, swinging farther and farther to the left, has become the party of socialism.  This failed Marxist ideology was tried in various forms in Nazi Germany (Nazi stands for National Socialist Party), in  Communist China, in the Communist U.S.S.R. (Russia), in Vietnam, in North Korea, In Cuba, and in Venezuela.  In none of those countries did anyone flourish except the party leaders, who lived  off the wealth they stole from the people.  Socialism is a system in which the government provides everything for the individual.  All Democratic presidential hopefuls support socialism to varying degrees.  They have promised free healthcare for all, free college, forgiveness of current college loans, free extended family leave, free childcare, and a home for everyone. They claim they will pay for these things (because the government only has money to spend by taking it from someone in taxes) by taxing the rich so that they will be able to keep only a small percentage of what they earn.  How hard would you work if for every $100 you earned, $95 went to the federal government and only $5 into your pocket?  The problems socialism can be summed up in a comment by former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher:  “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”  So what happens when the rich flee to Canada or Europe?  When the government taxes them so heavily that they must cash in their investments in order to pay the taxes and live?  It will happen.  Then the stock market will crash because of the money they have pulled out, wiping out the retirement programs of millions of middle class Americans; no new innovations will be appear because there is no money for research and the incentive to create disappears when there is no reward for your labor; and very quickly, perhaps even from the start of these programs, the taxes of ordinary hardworking Americans will become huge.  Some will no longer be able to pay their mortgages.  The housing market will be glutted with houses that no one can afford to buy and the economy will crash and burn just like the economies of the countries mentioned above.

The Republican Party is the party of capitalism.  Capitalism is not a bad word, but rather the system that has raised country after country into economic prosperity.  Let a man keep most of what he earns, and he will be encouraged to try to earn more.  The wealthy business owner will put money into research and new innovations will come on the market to be purchased by the worker who has more money in his pocket.  The past three years under President Trump, following the trend  toward government control through business-killing regulations that we saw under , is a great example of the differences.  The stock market averages 10,000 points higher than before Trump was elected.  Unemployment has sunk to a 50 year low, with record unemployment  for both blacks and Hispanics.  More women are in the workforce now than since the 1950s.  There are hundreds of thousands of more jobs available than there are people looking for work.  Wages continue to rise at 3% or above each month.  The economy is booming with less governmental control.  Life is good.

Democrats are the Party of Foul Mouths. Vice-President Biden was caught on an open mike after the passage of the Affordable Care  Ace using the “f” word in a comment to President Obama.  You  would not use  profanity  in the presence of  the president unless he used it as  well.   And at a Democratic presidential debate, the moderators found it  necessary  to  caution the  candidates  to watch  their language since profanity cannot be used on television.

Republicans, many of whom are evangelical Christians, generally watch their language more carefully.  That is not to say that all Republicans do not use profanity, but that most of them do not.  And at no presidential debate has a Republican candidate ever had to be reminded not to use profanity.

Democrats are the party that lies.  Certainly some politicians of  both parties tell their constituents what those people want to hear, even when they know they cannot possibly carry through on the promises they have made.  But the Democratic Party goes far beyond that.  President Obama wanted to pass a comprehensive healthcare bill, so in order to convince those Americans who had insurance plans they were happy with, he told them that if they liked their doctors and their insurance plans, they could keep them.  But he knew as he said it over and over again that it was a lie. He  lied about the cause of the attack on our Consulate at Benghazi and the death of four Americans, including an Ambassador.  Nancy Pelosi called the Tax  Cut and Jobs Act Armageddon and told the American people that only the wealthy would benefit, when  she knew that the middle class Americans would get a tax cut as well.  Democrats kept saying that they had “seen the evidence” of the Trump  campaign’s collusion with Russia, but no such proof existed as the Mueller team, after  over two years, finally concluded.  They were lying  again.  Adam Schiff read before television cameras what he  said was the transcript  of  President Trump’s  conversation with President  Zelensky of the  Ukraine, except that Schiff had made it all up.  It was a colossal  lie, and when called on it, he simply called it a “parody.”

Republicans are  the party that does not lie.  I cannot, of course, say no Republican official or  politician has ever lied, because Richard Nixon obviously did, but lying is not endemic within the party as it is with Democrats.  The Media and Democrats repeatedly  talk about President Trump’s myriad lies, but his so-called lies are often harmless exaggerations (the number of people at his inauguration), things that the Media has taken out of context and twisted to sound untrue, or things the media claims are untrue, such as the wire-tapping of Trump Tower, which we later discover actually happened. He has never lied about a Benghazi or lied about health insurance as his predecessor did.  Republicans wouldn’t lie in order to pass a bill.  They would try to argue its merits instead.  They wouldn’t lie about something as serious as the possible impeachment of a President.  They wouldn’t repeatedly lie about a President that they didn’t like in an attempt to remove him from office. Those who argued, for example, that Barack Obama had not  been born in America, proposed it as their belief, not as  a fact for which they “had seen the proof.”  Instead they demanded that he make public his birth certificate, proving his U.S. citizenship, which he did. There  is a difference between an  erroneous opinion and a flat out, deliberate lie for gain.

Democrats are the party of  immorality.  They have no moral compass to guide them.  Whatever they feel is right at the  moment is right.  This is why we have same-sex  marriage, transgenders, and a myriad of other sexual proclivities under the well-protected LGBTQ banner. This is why more and more  individuals, though not yet widely accepted, are arguing  that adult/child sex is simply  another sexual choice, not the horrific crime of pedophilia that the  rest of the country considers it.  And this lack of morality explains why the vast majority of men publicly accused of sexual harassment have been prominent Democrats. They have no sense of how to treat a woman with dignity, no sense of absolute right and wrong.

Republicans are the  party of morality.  Vast numbers of conservatives are Evangelical  Christians who use the Bible as their moral compass.  Their behavior is dictated by the   teachings of Jesus, not by the trend of  the moment.  They believe that right is always right and  wrong is always wrong.  They believe in  sin and evil and absolute truth. Even non-Evangelical Christians and less religious conservatives adhere to these traditional American values.

Democrats  are the party  of the non-religious, as the Democratic Party Chairman recently announced.   In 2012,  the  Democratic  National Committee first removed the word “God” from their  platform with the approval of the delegates.  Then, their leaders fearing that such a move would alienate independents and black Americans who tend to be religious,  they put the word back.  .  . once. And that was accomplished in an interesting manner.  The suggestion to mention God once was brought up and voted on.   It was  voted down, but  the man conducting the vote, concerned about losing too many voters, said,  “The  ayes have it.!” The delegates booed. God does not exist for them except as a myth.

The Republican Party, on the other hand, in the same year, talked about God twelve times in their platform.  God is an integral part of the lives of a large number of conservatives and is at least given lip service by most of the rest. The morality taught in the Judeo-Christian tradition has for over two centuries been the morality by which the country conducted itself.  Certainly, while the South held slaves and even after their emancipation, blacks were not treated with the same moral guidelines as white Americans.  But even through slavery and the years leading up to the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s, northern Americans fought to free slaves and marched and yes, died alongside their black brothers and sisters.  Over 360,000 young white northerners died in the Civil War to give freedom to black Americans  and more than one young white college student was killed for marching with the blacks.

The Democratic Party is the party of racism.  White Americans are consistently put down, especially white men.  One of the favorite catch words of liberals is “white privilege.” One liberal professor even claims that mathematics is white privilege as if blacks, Asians, and Hispanics are so dumb they are incapable of doing math.  Yet no one on the left seems to see what a put down this is to the minority groups that they claim to champion.  White privilege ignores the struggles of poor whites various parts of the country, claiming that poor or not, they will succeed in life just because they are white while blacks will not succeed in life just because they are black. It is harder for a white student to get into most colleges than it is for a student of any other skin color, even if the white student has the better grades.  Liberal colleges now have separate black commencements, separate black only dorms, and “safe spaces” where blacks can congregate without the presence of other races.  What is this except racism?  “Separate, but equal” was the mantra of southern whites and the false narrative that Martin Luther King Jr. gave his life to see changed.  The naive blacks on college campuses and their parents are falling for this sham, never remembering that this separation of blacks and whites is exactly what the Jim Crow laws were about!

The Republican Party is basically color blind.   While white supremacist groups sometimes tack themselves to the coattails of the Republicans because they are too finite in number to make any headway on their own, they are disliked and, when possible, ignored, by most conservatives.  Republicans believe that all races are equal and that every person, as Martin Luther King Jr. said in his famous speech, should be judged by the content of his character and not by the color of his skin.  They believe that all people should have equal opportunities. That is why Education Secretary Betsy DeVos promotes school choice in order to allow blacks and Hispanics who attend failing schools to go instead to better schools without having to pay out of district tuition.  Democrats are firmly against this, both to protect the inadequate teachers in the minority communities, and also to keep minorities poor and  needy, dependent upon them to save them from poverty.  Except, of course, they never do.  The  worst crime and drug ridden minority communities are all in major cities that have been run by Democrats for years.  Also, while blacks suffered during the presidency of the first black president, under President Trump they have seen prison reform and the lowest unemployment  rate for blacks in history.  Republicans want to see everyone succeed, regardless of their skin color.

The Democratic Party is the party of exclusion. They claim to be the party of diversity, yet in 2016 their field of presidential hopefuls included one white woman and two white men.  In 2020,  although their huge field still includes an Asian, an Hispanic, a woman, and a black American, the top candidates for the Democrats are three white men and a white woman. In addition, no one is welcome among liberals unless they toe the party line.  You cannot hold a diverse opinion and be welcomed by them. Evangelical Christians would not be welcome because of their strict moral code and their pro-live stance.  It had been suggested early on that being pro-choice (i.e. pro-abortion at any time) should be a litmus test for Democratic presidential candidates.

The Republican Party accepts everyone, blacks, Asians, Hispanics, the non-religious, homosexuals. In 2016, their presidential candidates included one woman, an Indian, two Hispanics, a black and several white men.  Their final two candidates were a white man and an Hispanic.  They welcome all who share their morality, their belief that evil exists, that there is an absolute right.  They would even welcome pro-choice individuals, although they would try their hardest to convince them that they were wrong.

The Democratic Party is the party of  censorship.  In this, the freest country in the world, they reject the freedom of speech guarantee of the Constitution and censor any speech that does not agree with their ideas.  They riot to prevent conservative speakers from appearing on college campuses.  They shame famous people into apologizing for true statements such as “All lives matter.” They believe that freedom of speech does not cover hate speech.  However, who defines what is hate speech?  They do.  Hate speech is anything that “triggers” them, that annoys them, that makes them feel bad.  They are, in large part, a bunch of bullying wimps!

Republicans have become somewhat immune to hate speech since the Democrats use it against them constantly.  They are called racist, homophobic, xenophobic, white supremacists (even if they happen to be black conservatives).  But the party does not retaliate with name calling of that calibre. The president likes to come up with funny names for those who have first attacked him, such as calling Adam Schiff “Pencil Neck,” but in general, Republicans believe in a person’s right to say whatever he  or she pleases, even if it is hurtful to us.  Free speech means all speech is free.  Here in America, unique in all the world, we have always been able to express our ideas without fear. Democrats are trying to change that.Surely the old adage of “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me” is  true when it comes to free speech. Democrats need to remember that.

The Democratic Party has become the party of violence.  Representative Maxine Waters is famous for having encouraged Democrats to accost members of Trump’s cabinet wherever they encounter them and tell them that they aren’t welcome there.  Conservatives have been run out of restaurants by Democrats, threatened by mobs on their lawns, attacked as they mowed their yards, shot as they practice for a ball game, and beaten up by members of Antifa.

No stories have ever reached the press of a Republican attacking a Democrat or disrupting a Democratic family as they ate in a restaurant because it has not happened.  That is not what we do. That is not who we are.

There are even more differences between the Democratic and Republican parties that I could mention,  but this blog is already way too long.  Suffice it to say, that the moderates with whom Republicans have worked in the past no longer control the party.  This party has become the face of socialism, of tricking the public into giving up their freedom in exchange for “free” goodies that they will end of paying  for in more ways than one.  This has become the party that hates America and normal, hardworking Americans.  This is now the party that  wants to destroy a free America and turn us into a Venezuela.  This is a party that we should all fear, distrust, and fight against.
