Well, Joe, you got it.  By hook or crook (mostly crook) you have finally captured the big prize, the Presidency.  You have promised to be a ‘unifier’, one who will bring together the disparate parts of the nation under your leadership.

If so, you will see how big a challenge this is.  Are you up to it?  Remember, more than 74 million of your fellow Americans voted for the other guy.  You are now committed to ‘rule’ fairly, even for those who did not want you to win.  Here are some of the problems you face; are you ready to do what you pledged to do?

  1.  On abortion  —  a majority of your fellow citizens do not want abortion on demand.  We know that is the platform of the Democratic Party you belong to, but can you ignore more than 70 millions who disagree?  A large portion of your caucus will not go along with anything less than repealing the Hyde Amendment, and many will insist that abortion should take place up until the time of birth.  How about it, Joe?  What is your response?
  •  You have promised to pass legislation to limit the reach of the Second Amendment, and make sure those ‘assault rifles’ are not in the hands of American citizens.  But, Joe, you know that the Supreme Court has ruled that any gun that is in popular demand and in the hands of many citizens is shielded by that Amendment.  And, Joe, you have singled out the AR-15 rifle, which you know is not an assault gun, but the AR stands for ArmaLite, the company who first built it.  It is not an automatic gun, but semi-automatic.  Millions more have purchased weapons in the past few years, including some of your fellow Democrats.  Are you going to go against their wishes?  How do you square your promise to govern as the leader of all Americans and still try to take away their God-given right to self-defense?
  • Fracking has revolutionized the oil industry.  In fact, this process has produced enough energy that the U. S. is now self-sufficient in that area, even to the point of selling oil to other countries.  Yet (and we have the video clips) you have promised to end fracking, and ending the fossil fuel industry.  Millions of Americans enjoy historically low gasoline prices, abundant heating oil and other benefits from the oil industry.  How do you equate being the President of all and attempt to destroy an industry and force ordinary citizens to pony up more of their hard-earned cash to run their cars and heat their homes?  How do you respond, Joe?
  • You have repeatedly claimed we have a ‘hard winter’ ahead of us due to the ongoing pandemic.  You have suggested another round of shutdowns for many businesses will be necessary to kill the scourge.  Yet there is increasing evidence that such lockdowns are having a deleterious effect on people’s health that exceeds the ravages of the virus.  These effects include people losing jobs, businesses and connections that are vital to a person’s well-being.  How do you justify limiting attendance at worship services, which is a protected right by the Constitution?  Does your faith not recognize the phrase, ‘and the free exercise thereof’ in reference to that right of belief in the First Amendment?  How do you answer the millions of Americans who have been denied the full enjoyment of their faith when you want to deny that ‘free exercise’?  Personally, I have been threatened by authorities when we tried to open up our small church for services after shutting down for two months.  Is that the America you want?  What is your answer?  Even now, the spread of the virus is seen to be the result of small group (family, friends) rather than from large meeting of worshippers.
  •  You have criticized your soon to be predecessor’s foreign policy.  You have highlighted the problem in the Middle East.  Yet, the historic Abraham Accords have brought more peace to the region than you and your President, Barack Obama, did in eight years of your foreign policy.  Many Americans are grateful to have the ability to have a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and be safer because of that success.  Do you plan to reengage Iran, who is still the scourge of the Middle East?  Or do you expect to continue a policy that has seen unprecedented success in this volatile area?  Millions of your fellow Americans see more progress with the Arab world.  What are you going to do?
  • You have promised to raise taxes in order to make your proposed programs effective.  Is this in the best interest of your fellow Americans?  Does this fulfill your promises, made on the campaign trail, to unify and strengthen the nation?  What of the millions who live virtually from paycheck to paycheck?  Can they expect protection from their leader?  Or are you just another ‘tax and spend’ office holder?  Well, Joe, what is your answer?

There are many more areas where you have made promises about how you would make things better than the past administration.  The 74 million + who voted for your opponent will be watching to see if you truly wish to ‘unify’ the nation, or whether your words were those of a career politician who only cared about getting elected.  If you sincerely desire to be the President of all, it will be seen in your actions concerning those policies which have helped Americans in the past.
